When it comes to maintaining the efficiency of your dishwasher and ensuring spotless dishes, it’s common to wonder whether dishwasher salt is necessary when using Finish® Quantum all-in-one. Finish® Quantum tablets are formulated to deliver a powerful, sparkling clean with a combination of detergent, rinse aid, and water-softening agents. However, the hardness levels of your water will determine how necessary the use of additional dishwasher salt may be. Hard water contains high levels of calcium and magnesium, which can cause mineral build-up in your dishwasher, which is what leaves spots or streaks on your dishes(1). In such cases, additional dishwasher salt is necessary to soften the water effectively. While it can be confusing, here’s what you should know:
- Does Finish® Quantum contain salt? Finish Quantum tablets include some water-softening components, but these may not be sufficient for your water conditions.
- Do I need salt with Finish® Quantum? In areas with hard water additional dishwasher salt, such as Finish’s own, is recommended. This is because while Finish® Quantum helps reduce limescale, it does not entirely replace the need for dedicated salt to soften water.
